Title: Test of the Tenderfoot
Level: Junior High
experience an adventure in the western mountains that helps them
see more clearly their own strengths and weaknesses and to face
the realities of their lives. Lanny Curtis, a boy from the East, has
entered Junior High School in a small western town. He is eager to
make friends but, small for his age and very near-sighted, he lacks
self-confidence. When Steven Harper invites him to spend the weekend
at his ranch home, Lanny is pleased and excited, for he is a lover of
nature. Since the Harper ranch is at the foot of the mountains, Lanny
hopes to have the opportunity to visit those high places. Steve,
aggressive and often boastful, makes that visit possible. Their trip into
those mountains becomes a frightening experience, one that is a test of
each boy's strength and wisdom. This story, a TimberTrails Book, has
adventure and suspense and will be enjoyed by Junior High School
Students. The illustrations by Tony Elliot, an authority on Western
settings, add interest to the book.
